Aaron's Apple has raised over $43,000 year to date and helped over 3 patients get access to their medicines, in their time of need.

Who:

Aaron Maresky is 10 years old. When he was 7, he was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. The drugs that Aaron needs to stay healthy cost over $40,000 per year. Luckily, Aaron's family has insurance that covers the costs. Many families do not have additional insurance coverage. Aaron and his family decided to start Aaron's Apple to help families cope with the catastrophic drug costs.

What:

$43 000 been raised in our first year and we have already begun to make a difference. We have directly assisted families that have been referred to us from Sick Kids Hospital.

Where:

Aaron and his family live in Thornhill, Ontario.

How:

We not only assist children with Crohn's disease but all families who have enormous drug costs for their children and cannot afford them. Aaron's Apple supports children with Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and other rare diseases that are treated with drugs that are extremely expensive.

When these children are in terrible pain, wasting away and missing school and need drugs immediately, Aaron's Apple bridges the financial gap while they are waiting for the help from government assistance called Trillium. This is essential for families who do not have extra insurance.

Why:

Families need assistance at a critical time, when stress is already high, and getting back to health needs to be the priority.
